Grow Alabama Ambassador Program - 2nd Meeting

Grow Alabama is a sustainable agriculture and rural community development program. Its mission is to expand the production of locally-grown produce in Alabama, improve the economy of the state's rural areas, and contribute to a less-polluted, cleaner environment, all while making more locally-grown, healthy food available to the people of Alabama.

A Grow Alabama Ambassador will be a special representative committed to this mission. The program gives Ambassadors a chance to put their love and caring for this state, its people and its communities to work. It lets them work for a worthwhile cause and contribute to its success.

As an Ambassador, participants will contribute directly to extending sustainable, environmentally-sound agriculture for Alabama. They will gain first-hand experience with Grow Alabama farmers around the state, their problems, their successes and their food. Ambassadors will be trained in the underlying conditions which make improving the rural environment a necessity. And, with this knowledge and experience you will be supported and empowered in sharing the possibility of health and prosperity for all Alabamians.

This can be a powerful program for those who want to make a real difference in their communities. While a volunteer program, there will be results expected of each Ambassador and there will be benefits shared beyond training, including the ability to earn money within this program.

The program requires a commitment of four months with evening meetings every other week and one all-day Saturday meeting per month.

Come to our second informational meeting Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the DanielDay Gallery at 3025 6th Avenue South in Birmingham. The formal program begins March 2 and continues through June 26, 2010. The complete schedule will be available at the informational meeting.
