Grow Alabama meats are grown by Alabama farmers without
the use of hormones and only the vaccinations and antibiotics
required by Alabama law. These latter are required for
beef, pork and goat only. Our goal is to deliver only
grass-fed meat. The descriptions below will give you more
detail on each animal. The chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits
and fish are grown and processed on the Mt Laurel farm
and the chickens, turkeys and ducks are physically processed
kosher/halal, but without the current availability of
a Rabbi or Imam. The fish (Tilapia) are grown from fry
in our lake and the rabbit on a grass & grain diet.
Organic grains are not reasonably affordable in Alabama
at this time. We have our feeds mixed for us by a local
mill without hormones, stimulants or chemical additives.
As the demand grows we will truck-in organic grains.
Chickens: $3.25/lb. The chickens
normally range from 4-5 lbs. You receive them whole, fresh-dressed
and vacuum-packed in a freezer bag. Fresh chickens are
delivered monthly throughout the year. Since we grow to
order, we ask that shareholders place standing orders
for chickens each month, with a two-month minimum. Our
chickens freeze very well with no discernable loss in
flavor or moisture, and they're grown free-range on a
grass and feed diet with plenty of fresh, clean water.
Turkeys: $4.25/lb. Fresh turkeys
are available for Thanksgiving and Christmas only. They
are grown and dressed in the same way as the chickens.
This year they will weigh in the range of 12-18 lbs. Order
them soon.
Ducks: $24 each. Our ducks are
White Pekins, a type normally raised for restaurant use.
They are grown and dressed in the same way as the chickens
and will weigh in the 5-7 lb range. Ducks are available
year-round. You may order them on a monthly basis as with
the chickens or you may order them as wanted.
Geese: $35 each. A real treat for
the holidays, our geese are raised and processed kosher/halal,
as our other poultry. They weigh 12-15 pounds.
Rabbits: $16 each. Our rabbits
are restaurant quality, very tasty and tender, raised
on grass and good grains. Rabbits are available year-round.
Order as desired. They will come to you dressed (whole)
and vacuum-packed.
Tilapia Fish: $3.75/lb (live weight).
Tilapia is the only fish available at this time. We are
working on other varieties. It is a warm-water fish and
not available (fresh) after October. When the water gets
below 50 degrees we will dress all the fish remaining,
vacuum pack and freeze. You may order as desired.
Pork: $2.75/lb. (plus a $15 packing/shipping
fee). Pork is available only by the quarter. A dressed
quarter weighs in the range of 25-35 lbs. You may order
a quarter at any time. If none is available at the time
of your order, you will be on the list for the next available.
The pork is raised in Shelby County on grass and healthy
grain and dressed in a USDA facility. The different cuts
are vacuum packed and frozen and delivered frozen.
